Hi, Snow - yes, the literacy rates in Glaschu aren't really all that good and I was hoping someone might be willing to try and set up a few teachers, maybe encourage a native to work for us? It sounds like you've got the experience to do it... [ There's a pause as she considers. ] I can give you some money, and some copies of notebooks and quills, if you could find someone who would be willing to try and teach?
I could certainly try, at least. I'm sure among the natives there would be someone willing to help for something like this. If their children receive better education, they have much more opportunities, even in a situation and time like this. And if they go on to teach others, there could be more helping teach the adults and children. I don't see why this shouldn't be something they could also strive for as well.
I'd appreciate the supplies, and the money could help obtain more, or help pay them to get them started, definitely.
I can't imagine too many would turn down an education either, surely. I mean, if they can read then they can learn to use runes, even simple ones for protection or good luck.
[ She huffs out a little noise, considering. ]
I'll send someone with the resources and I'll make sure you have the money for at least a few months pay in advance for whoever you find. Let me know who and where, if you find someone, and I can set up a regular delivery for them?
Yes, that was my thinking too. Even the simplest runes if they can read and learn those would be a help to them in all of this. Not that I've looked into them too much yet myself, but still. Anything that would help them can only be a bad thing. I know some are more wary of us shardbearers, but offering an education, to be able to read and write and thus make their own choices, that can only be a good thing, surely.
[Or so she figures, at least. There's always some suspicion, some uncertainty with shardbearers, but she couldn't and wouldn't be accused of propaganda or anything of the sort if she's helping them to read and write.]
But that sounds fine to me. I can pay them in advance and let you know once I've found someone willing to help teach the other natives. If they're getting regular pay and supplies for it, I see no reason they wouldn't keep at it.
That's what I hope. I want to offer them something after the mess we're all causing - I know they're irritated that the war isn't over, that we haven't finished everything yet, but we're doing the best we can. Giving back a little will do something to help.
[ They're trying. That's the best they can do -- they can try. ]
Thank you so much for doing this. If you can let them know that I'd like updates on the education, too? If that's alright?
Thank you so much, Snow. I'll send someone over with everything that I have to help, the books, quills and money, and I'll wait for you to get back to me.

[Considering the war isn't yet over. Considering the loss and the aftermath of injuries on all sides, Unseelie, Seelie and the natives. All of them.]
But of course. If you're helping set this up and fund it, I myself couldn't see any objection to updates on how it progresses.
