[ Delivered sometime after his visit with the elven emissaries. ]
I feel as though I'd be doing you and your fellows a disservice if I did not tell you that there are murmurs of discontent in the elven kingdom. I cannot tell you exactly what these complaints are, considering the harsh glare I was met with when I said that it sounded like they were displeased with their leadership [ Josephine would have likely scolded him for that, though all in all, he thought he did a decent enough job. ]. Again, I'm hardly an expert when it comes to politics, but considering that the meeting was about the murders in Parrais, I think that it might be safe to say that some of the elves are less than happy with their current leadership, and given my home country's past, I cannot entirely say that I don't blame them.
I gave Lancelot the same warning. If nothing else, it's something that might be worth looking into, preferably with someone that has a stronger rapport with the elves and a better head for backhanded politics than I.
[ a pause. ]
And you did not hear this from me. Given the reaction that I received at the mere mention of discontent, I'd really like to remain on decent terms with the rest of the emissaries.
[ There. Perhaps Josephine would applaud him for that, if she was here. ]
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, Cullen.
[ She breathes out, a sharp little noise. ]
I'll talk to Lancelot about this and see what we can do. I know that none of us are entirely prepared for the politics of this world but we're all learning and I know that you're doing the best that you can. I believe in you.
[ She's going to have to spend hours on this, maybe a council with Lancelot and the other Marquis... But she looks forward to it. ]
We'll try and do what we can, and thank you for trusting me with this. I appreciate it.
