Hey, Hermione!

[ she hasn't heard about the girl's own troubles in the battle, but she suspects she'd have been in Caer Glaem, and so, remembering their first conversation, it seems wise to check up - ]

How's that practice going?

[ - there's an unspoken are you alright in that. ]

[ Hermione's voice is softer when she replies, understanding the hidden message fairly easily. ]

It's going well. My arm doesn't hurt after a few hours now - I had to take a break for a while, but I'm back on schedule.

[ she laughs, apparently pleased. of the break, she says nothing. she assumes the reasoning for it, and it doesn't need questioning. ]

Good! That's how it starts. That, and the sore fingers.

I never realised how trying archery was on fingers! I thought it was going to be just my arms, but I've learned my lesson the hard way.

[ At least she doesn't sound utterly desolate about it, which is a plus. ]

And how have you been holding up?

[ the best way to get a lesson, some times - she chuckles, easing up. ]

Someone will have told you that means you're doing it right by now, I guess. [ her head tilts. there's a lot she could answer that question with; her healing hands and ringing ears, to begin with, but the commiserating seems pointless. ] I'm well! This place - well, it's a trial by fire, huh? But I can cope with that.

I'll get used to it. A few sore fingers aren't the worst things in the world. [ And it's a bit of a relief, really. It warms her, knowing she's learning how to defend herself and take care of herself properly. ] It is a little... Well, it's the Drabworld. It takes a lot of courage to survive.

Far from it. Especially when they're teaching you. [ there's a fondness in her voice, something wistful. then she tips her head at Hermione, shooting her a grin. ] Thankfully, I don't think either of us lack for courage. But you are alright, yes?

Exactly. I could have it far, far worse. [ She's smiling before she nods her head, making sure she's not showing how nervous and tired she is. ] I'm fine, really, I am. Just a bit tired.

Well, don't work too hard, [ she says, confiding, her voice lowering with a conspiratorial edge. ] And that's coming from me!

[ She shakes her head, the smile coming easier now. ]

I promise. Sleep and food in suitable amounts!

[ she nods, in apparently wise approval. ]

That's what I like to hear - and hey, if you need a hand with your newer hobbies, I'll be around.

Really? I mean - you wouldn't mind? I'd appreciate it, if there's anything you can do to help me.

[ admittedly, her pride is pleased by the reaction. however, it is comforting on a deeper level - she remembers, years ago, taking part in teaching and training and guiding, leading. there had been less of that during Ganondorf's war, and even then, it wasn't her. ]

I'd be happy to! And I'm quite capable, too! [ she winks, then sobers up a little. ] What you're doing - I think it's a sound idea. I'll absolutely help with that, as much as I can.

[ Hermione is incredibly pleased at the idea of having an actual teacher - Lancelot is so busy and she doesn't want to add to his plate and she's not sure how much time she can dedicate it. Having someone offer is more than she thought would happen. ]

Thank you, so much. I can give you potions or charms in return, if you like.

[ for a moment, she is still, perhaps considering, and then she shakes her head and waves her hand, gauntlets gleaming. ]

There doesn't need to be a return - though my sisters would laugh at my altruism! You've got a will to learn and you seem like a smart young woman; that's more important to me.

Oh, then - thank you. But if I do manage to accidentally give you something in return... You'll have to take it and think about my best friends laughing at my altruism.

Well, I guess I can't argue accidents! I imagine that you're a busier woman than I here, so you can choose when suits, okay?
