Not really. They pull the carriages that take us from the town nearby to school. It's actually considered illegal to ride them, since they're classified as a dangerous creature.

It's only illegal to ride them. They're a rather domesticated herd and it's good for students to see them, if they can, and understand that they're not dangerous. They have a bit of a terrible reputation because of their relationship with death, It's rather unfair.

George and Martha want you to know they have a terrible reputation because of how people perceive snakes. I get it. It sucks when people don't appreciate others or things for what they really are, but let some stigma ruin it.

[ and it'd been so easy to steal from him. it feels like good payback, considering he had almost killed him, thalia, annabeth, and grover. but it still isn't enough for the pain he has caused. he'll always hate hades for taking people from him, for trying to take people from him — just like hermes, hades is a piece of shit that let his own kids down. it's something he won't ever forgive him for. ]

[ luke isn't really sure how to take that — nico having a pseudo sister. it's nice, he guesses. the furby needs someone to nag him until he's no longer just skin on bones. hermione will probably be the best to ensure he eats his entire happy meal, too. luke, on the other hand, has only disappointed the kid. but it's a small world, sort of — hermione had known nico, but possibly better than he does or ever will. ]

It's good someone cares about the furball. Kid's had a bit of a stagnated life.

[ literally. if the lotus casino is anything to go by, he's a seventy year old man instead. but after losing his sister, luke's still trying to make up for what he knows he'll never be able to achieve. at least he's fitting in somewhere. that's all he could really ask for. ]

Does he live up to the stigma?

[ Hermione really doesn't know what to think of this real life mythology. She loves all her friends, of course, even the ones she knows are Demigods, but understanding it and coming to terms with her friends being half - well, god - is a little strange and unique. She's dealing with it, though, as she always does, without any hesitation.

When it comes to Nico she can't help the swell of affection she has for him. She loves Nico, the baby brother she never had, the person she devotes all her overactive concern towards and he accepts it. He loves her, too, and she knows it; knowing that he sees her as a sister is more than enough for her. She just needs to make sure he's always aware. ]

I don't know a lot about it, but I do know him. I really care about him - and that won't change any time soon. I care about him, a lot.

He's a piece of shit.

[ things with nico are complicated for him — too complicated. as he has with everyone, he's let them run off to do their own thing, form relationships around and without him. he doesn't know where he fits in with everyone, and a part of him doesn't want to find out in case it's revealed he doesn't. but at least the kid has a stable foundation to stand on. it's better than what luke could ever offer him. ]

Yeah, well. That's good. Kid's had a hard life. It's not easy being the son of a dickbag — trust me. I think he's been pretty lonely for some time, so ... If you don't take care of him, we're going to have a problem.

[ She can't understand, of course, but she's seen people that are terrible. She knows them, really; she knows what it's like to come face to face with someone and be disappointed, she knows what it's like to trust someone and be proven to be a fool. She remembers hating herself because she had trusted Snape for so long (even if she was proven right to believe in him in the end), remembers her infatuation with Lockhart, remembers her trust in Draco's good side. For all her stubborn belief in people Hermione knows she stumbles sometimes.

She knows she's had misguided trust here, too, considering her strange relationship with Queen Solais and the King. She breathes out, shaking her head as she focuses on talking to Luke. ]

I'm going to do my best to help him, take care of him, make sure that he's cared for and loved. Because I do love him and he deserves to know that, always.
