[ Well, she hadn't -- she really hadn't considered that at all. She had been brewing for Nico and Percy and that was about it; she hadn't thought about any other people that might be in need. She had enough ingredients for a little while and if there were people that were going to have nightmares... ]

I - I see. Do they want me to... Help? I wouldn't mind, the potions don't take that long to brew and if people need them I'd be happy to do what I could.

I've no wish to make a slave-labourer of you. No, what I'm suggesting is this: I buy up a certain amount of stock from you, at a price we negotiate between us based on ingedient cost and preparation time, and my partner and I then take on complete responsibility for selling it. If we can't, it's our loss, not yours.

[ She isn't pouting. Really. ]

That doesn't sound very fair for you. I understand how merchants and sales works, of course, it makes sense on a profit level for me, but I'd rather help people than earn money. I wouldn't want anyone to end up at a loss because of this.

[ A pause, then - ]

Which is why we'd negotiate.

[Oh thank fuck. She's altruistic, but she's aggressive about it, and sharp too. He grins, very genuinely, and kicks back.]

It works for us because I can already think of a small client base...particularly if this stuff works on non-humans. Once word gets out, that'll increase, though it won't ever be huge if you're our only supplier. Wouldn't like to swamp you. [Can you cut Dreamless Sleep? Time to find out!] But if that set-up doesn't suit you, we can work on a commission basis; take an order, get you to make it up, take payment, take our cut, send the rest to you. Less of a risk for us but less intuitive for you, because you'd be beholden to our schedules and not yours. I'd rather you be able to dictate your own time. Gods know we shardbearers have little enough of it.

How long does this stuff keep, relatedly? Any storage conditions?

I think commission might be better. I can make quite a lot with a single brew, considering it's stored in vials rather than large goblets, and if I plan to go anywhere I can make some in advance. It's not the most complicated potion, not really, so it's not something that will take a long time to sort out if there's some kind of emergency. As for storage - as long as you're not throwing the vials around or keeping it in a boiling room then it should be alright.

[ She frowns, tilting her head and giving it some thought. ]

If I'm going to do this, though, I might as well do more. I can brew potions to help with blood replenishing, bruise healing paste, all sorts of things. If people need it I can make it.

By commission, then. [Means they're going to have to actively cheat her if they cut it, but hell, that's business.] We can finalise orders for a test batch within a fortnight. Happy to consider diversifying after we know how this first venture works out.

[Or: we don't want bruise healing paste, Hermione, we want stuff people can knock themselves out on.]

Of course, that sounds fine. Just let me know what you need and I'll make sure it's ready.
