And this is why I ask you to change the fate of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, Hermione Granger. Tap that world and change mine.

Anything you want to know, you can just ask. I wouldn't want to overwhelm you, though. My world's a little on the boring side.

[ if he could get her to change anything, his choice wouldn't be the relationship of justin and britney. it'd be something more personal, like telling that little boy to run faster, think quicker, and not take the lead when he and two girls reach a camp, allowing one to fall behind while the other remains locked in his grip. it's a little boring, isn't it? if he removes all the bits that actually are embedded into his skin. ]

[ there's nothing really to say, adding that to a list of things he'd like to change, but knows hermione's merely a girl trapped in another world, incapable of her domino effect. it'll never touch hermes, nor any of the gods, opening their eyes to their poor treatment of their kids. her lack of prying into it is appreciated, almost a shock to him, considering how hungry she is to devour all the books he can offer on the world of demigods. it's not something he wants to touch on in text, considering the nature of his own rants, but seeing her not defend the gods is almost a breath of fresh air. she doesn't know — but it doesn't matter to luke. ]

[ this wand business is weird, though. hermes' shoes are one size fits all. he had to personally bewitch them to dislike percy jackson. ]

What happened to yours?

It's a nice distraction. If JT and Britney can't make it, then what hope is there for the rest of us lowlives?

[ it's not necessarily important to him. if the tone he dictates his text in could somehow make its way into his own words, she'd hear his sarcasm, the way he almost laughs. there's no hope for a demigod. if she were to ask, he'd paint it as plainly as that. but where he speaks too plainly, he senses there's more to the story than a wand simply being taken and given back, as though it had been borrowed without seeking permission from its owner. he doesn't press. unlike hermione, luke's not necessarily hungry for the information right now. ]

I hope you did a witchy curse on whoever took it. One of my brothers took my favorite pair of shoes once. He got his head dunked in a nice, chilly lake for that.

[ it's not necessarily the same, is it? a pair of flying converse shoes, gifted to him by the dad he had begun to loathe, stolen from him in a jest by a brother who hadn't quite been claimed. it's a story that's light, especially compared to the one she shares only the tip of. he could easily match it, with a tale of thalia, or one of annabeth, but he chooses to keep even himself oblivious to those items that had been stolen from him that had been gifted from either of them. ]

[ it gives him an idea, though. ]

You got your wand here?

[ no, you have to be deserving of the happiness in order to attain it. that's how luke looks at the world. if he were deserving of it, he'd be handed it — just as he had been in those moments while on the run with annabeth and thalia, the little pockets of time where they were simply kids, either goofing around or being a little family, not running from monsters and the demons they couldn't quite defeat with a well-aimed swing of a golf club. ]

[ rather than reply to anything, really, luke gets straight down to business. it's easy to do small talk with the lockets, but he has a feeling he'll end up distracted from the path he's chosen to walk along, choosing to step on the stepping stones leading him to another one she leads him down. he'd rather take her by the hand and pull her along his — if she agrees, after all. ]

If you're none too keen on getting out of the Station any time soon, maybe you can show off some of your magic tricks. Pretty sure my xBox game can wait.

[ nothing in this place is working for him, not even with a little bit of his own influence upon technology. he'd rather meet hermione in person, if she plans on sticking around for an extra forty-eight hours, than try his luck with google once again. ]
