Would it help if you see what I normally do first?

[She's never used incantations herself. Theb only ones she's even familiar with are the ones she saw from Rosella and Swan's memories. But every since Calibrations, she's been working on channeling spells, so maybe this is the chance to put it into practice...]

... That's not a bad idea. A lot of the people I taught in the Drabwurld were people I knew well beforehand, so it made things easier.

[ Hermione shifts, standing up taller and offering a small smile. ]

I'd like to see more of your magic anyway! I bet it's amazing.

Not really... My mother's was so much greater than mine. I'm nowhere near what she was. She was strong enough to help maintain the wards around the entire city, after all, and those were for the capital- the strongest wards in the world.

[She slips into past tense there without realizing it.]

Mine is just elemental magic, specialized for combat. Come on, I'll show you. Stratus can stay here for a bit.

[She turns to leave the room, heading in the direction of the gym.]

But I bet she had more time to learn and practice than you've had so far. And she wasn't kidnapped and taken to strange new worlds, too.

[ Hermione makes no comment on it; she's lost parents before, both of them, though that was her own fault. Her father in the Drabwurld had died, too, but at least he came back, as immortal as he had been before.

Breathing out, she nods her head, turning to follow without hesitation. ]

So your world doesn't have spells that would help for daily life, then?

[It's not that she had more time to practice, it's that she chose to practice more... But the rebuttal dies in her throat.]

Not entirely true. Just, utility magic tends to come from spellbooks rather than learned naturally, and even then, some classes have a lot more than others. The only ones I have are Wind and Flash.

[She flicks a wrist to demonstrate, first having a gust of wind open the door to the gym for them, then just having some pretty lights and sparkles appear where she waves before vanishing again.]

Mostly, I just use them to grab things from across the room, or read after dark.
