[And see her he does, as he waits in the Heron's docking bay for Hermione to arrive. She may note the new potted plants arranged in the space along the open left wall; three metal boxes, filled with soil and the green stalks and flowers protruding from them.]
[ The plants are nice, and when she sees them it's enough to make her smile. Moving forward, she brightens all the more when she sees Erik, hurrying over to give him a bright, wide smile. ]
[ It doesn't stop her smile, though, and she moves up to stand beside him - she knows the way, she's been here enough times already, but she's not going to race ahead without him. ]
Are you going to ask your question here or are we going to wait for the tea?
[Maybe there's a shade of overcompensation, if he were to think about it. The loss of his little girl, and no one around to give that kind of attention to. That's not a thought he'll ever pursue, though. He steps towards the corridor, gesturing for Hermione to follow.]
I can ask on the way. Your magic... can it make something like ink?
[ She follows after without question, just keeping up her smile. Her friendship with Erik has gotten a little more intense since the last time they saw each other, but she hardly minds; she's content to be there, for him and with him, any way he needs. It's what she's good at. ]
I... I think I could make ink. If I had some water I could probably transfigure it.
[He nods, thoughtful, as they enter the kitchen. Moving around to the counter, Erik opens up the container there that holds the remainder of his produce from the planet. It's mostly nuts and berries, easier to forage from the perimeter of the ship, rather than go back to the fallen vessel deep in the woods.]
I can trade you something for it, if you're willing to make some. I'm making a pen as a gift for someone... I can manage the pen itself easily enough, but ink is a little harder to find.
[ Hermione settles down to sit and listen to him, tilting her head up as he speaks. His offer, though, makes her nose wrinkle. ]
You don't need to trade me anything. It's not as though getting water is going to cost me anything, really. [ All she needs is a cup and her wand, after all. ] I don't mind helping you with a gift.
Let's compromise, and say this food is payment. [Even if he was already going to give it to her.] And... thank you. I could have left it empty, but it wouldn't feel complete.
That works for me. [ They both know that it's something they'd do either way. Pushing herself up, she moves to get a cup and some water. ] I suppose you could have tried a quill, but either way you'd need ink.
[He makes a formless noise, considering, before putting his hand into his pocket. Withdrawing the screws he keeps there, he sets them on the table and splays his hands over them. The screws crumple, then liquify, slowly forming themselves into a receptacle no bigger than a ring box.]
[ Focussing on the transfiguration, Hermione only pays attention to the small container when she's done, blinking her way out of her reverie before she tilts her head up, smiling at Erik. ]

Good morning. I have everything in the kitchen, along with some tea.

I think the recipient wouldn't know what to do with a quill. It's not really something we've been taught to write with.

It took me a little while to get used to, so I understand. [ Settling down, she draws her wand, considering. ] Just black?

Give me a second and I'll test it.
[ It's easy enough to get a pen and notepad out of her bad and transfigure them into quill and parchment. ]

I would think quills are harder to hold than pens.

[ Dipping the quill in the ink, she writes some random words before she pushes it over for Erik to inspect. ]
