[ Hermione moves to open it carefully, shifting a little as she turns it around to get a good look - and the way that she lights up is obvious, her gaze flickering back to Anders before she grins. ]

It's wonderful! I was hoping to find some more things to read and - and this is just lovely, it's going to be so amazing to find out more about the planets and all their magic, especially something from Spirit, too -

[ She goes to open the little package, too, and that makes her burst into laughter. ]

Oh! And Crookshanks is going to love this... Anders, thank you, so much!

[She lit up and the brilliance of her smile brought warmth to his chest and a larger smile to his face.]

Good! I'm really glad you liked it. I thought it might be useful to someone who loves learning as you do.

[There's amusement in his eyes as he reaches into his pocket and draws out a slightly plainer collar to offer her.]

Or you could simply give him this, but I thought you'd appreciate that one as much as I did when I saw it..

[ Anyone buying her a gift leaves her happy and bright, but the thought that went into this one makes her obviously over the moon; it's almost funny how something so simple can make her day. ]

There are so many books at home that I wish I could have brought and I was getting quite irritated with the lack of options in the library here. This is wonderful, Anders.

[ And then she huffs a little laugh, leaning forward to take the other collar, too. ]

Maybe I can get him to wear it next time there's a ball?

[He couldn't be happier with her reaction. He'd simply have to get her new books from now on. In a touchingly familiar way, she reminded him a bit of Karl with that thirst for knowledge she had. He enjoyed learning for sure, especially magic, but it wasn't the passion both Karl and Hermione displayed.

He lets the thought go easily, however, in favor of the mention of a ball.]

There was a ball? Here or on one of the planets visited?

[ Tilting her head up, Hermione grins, clutching the book against her chest without pause. She's obviously excited, but she's not quite impolite enough to open it up when Anders is still here - she wants to spend more time with her friend, and she beams. ]

It was on a planet one or two before this one. It was a celebration of some kind and we were all invited. I wore a suit.

[His mind ran with the ideas of what sort of finery he would put Adalwolfe in for such an occasion. Something a sight better than the Orlesian fashion that often influenced Kirkwall's nobility. He hoped his little mental foray didn't show on his face, at least, and covered with a teasing smirk.]

I bet you looked quite dashing.

[ She can't help the way that she preens a little, tilting her head up. ]

I'd like to think so.

[ Not that many people commented on it, but... ]

[He certainly doesn't blame her for that.]

Well, hopefully I'll get a chance to see for myself. I have to wonder if I even remember how to dance.

Perhaps I'll have to brush up on my skills, just in case.

It's mostly muscle memory, honestly, and you'll pick it up quite fast. I'll dance with you, if you'd like, next time there's a ball.

I don't know if my muscles remember.

[But he smirked and bowed with more show than was necessary and took her hand in his so he could graze his lips to the back of it as though they were ridiculous Orlesians already at said ball.]

It would be my honor, my good lady.

[At least he has the practice to keep the smile off his face to maintain the effect.]

[ It's enough to make Hermione laugh, though, her hand lifting to cover her mouth. ]

Oh, my God! It's been months since someone called me 'lady' - I can't take it seriously anymore.

[His laugh joins her and he drops the act.]

Well, you can't expect me to keep it up if you laugh! How am I supposed to continue to pretend to be so self-important? You've simply ruined it.

[ She bites her lip, doing her best to calm her giggles. ]

I'm terribly sorry, my lord. I won't be so unkind next time.

[Anders gives a disdainful sniff as he'd seen countless Kirkwall nobles give, particularly around himself whenever he made the mistake of accompanying Hawke to one of the social visits he was required to attend.]

See that you aren't, Serah Granger.

[The facade doesn't last and easily crumbles into a cheeky grin.]

I'll let you return to what you were doing. Again, I'm glad you like the gifts. I'll have to see what I can do about your library situation in the future.

I'll not keep you, then, my lord.

[ She giggles her laugh before she steps forward, leaning up to kiss his cheek. ]
