Better than Austen, I think, but I haven't delved much yet.

That doesn't really surprise me. ( Hermione doesn't strike her as much for brawling purely for the love of it. ) We all have our demons, Hermione.

( Hers need to be beaten out of other people. )

It's interesting, especially when you're trying to get back in to muggle literature.

[ She does sniff, though, not sounding particularly thrilled. She's just come out of a war where all she's done is fight - all she wants to do is hide herself away from all of that. ]

I'm only saying that it seems like someone should be there to make sure that you don't go around getting yourself killed - or, worse, sent home.

[ Surely fighting and hurting people doesn't count as intimacy... ]

We have a couple of medical personnel on hand.

( Admittedly, Ilde taught herself how to stitch using YouTube videos, but Sam's an actual paramedic sort. She says it gently, rather than condescendingly. ) You needn't force yourself to be around it if you disapprove.

( Or if it makes her uncomfortable or unhappy, because Lara knows that she, herself, is not necessarily sensible on this matter. )

I don't see how I can get sent home when I'm fighting with other people who want to fight. It's mutually beneficial, and doesn't stop be from meeting cuddling quota.

[ She shakes her head. She supposed that as long as it was all consensual and no one was fighting because they had to, just because they want to... ]

Just because I don't like something doesn't mean that you shouldn't. If you enjoy it then go ahead and I'll be there for you after.

[ She huffs again, closing her eyes. ]

I would have done it regardless. ( A little amused, a little matter of fact. It's a matter of honesty, really. ) Enjoying it is--

( That seems wrong and right at the same time, and there's enough hesitation in Lara's to show that she thinks it's terrible that she does. But there are worse things, surely, than organising a ring of adults who are eager to fight.

The conversation seems to have gotten very complicated very quickly. )

( It should be a joke, tries to be, but it's not. She's been throwing herself into fights and getting into trouble since she got here. See evidence A through C: falling through Joel's roof, arriving to the ball after a bar brawl, and arranging a n-limits with a fellow arrival who claims to have super strength. Maybe she needs to go and wrestle a lion to really round the past two weeks out. )

No, I suppose I can appreciate that. Just because it's not something that I would enjoy doesn't mean that you shouldn't do it. If you're okay and having fun, then...

[ She breathes out and she shakes her head, ignoring the still-there worry and shoving it away before she closes her eyes and leans back, crossing her legs under her as she speaks. ]

I'll just have to be there to help you afterwards, won't I.

[ She can do that, at least. She might not agree with fighting or doing something like that for fun, but not everyone enjoys reading and sitting down with a cup of tea or some butterbeer. ]

( In Lara's defence, she has enjoyed a lot of time in the library as well, some of which was spent with Hermione. Sadly, though, it isn't enough, can't siphon off the energy and the anger that grips her so easily. )

If I ever get knocked about too much I'll take a break.

( Though Lara's standard definition for that is perhaps less reliable than most people's. Still, it's an assurance she feels she should offer, and some part of her wonders how Sam or Jonah would feel about this, what Roth would say. She shuts the thoughts down before they can progress. )

[ Hermione hums, making a soft, non-committal noise before she shakes her head, fond of Lara even as she tries to shrug off her worry. ]

Good. I'm glad to hear it. At least I'll be a little less worried now.

[ And she means what she says, of course. She intends to be there for Lara - for as many people as possible - as soon as she can manage it. If she could be there to watch and actually help there she would, but... She doesn't want to see fighting if she can help it. ]
