Mm. That's a children's story, isn't it?

[It's not really said with any derision, unlike before. Back home, stories were power—the bigger, the better. Even modest figures from childhood could occupy a space in the Throne of Heroes alongside a King.

Gilgamesh turns the coin over, this way and that, smiling at his reflection in its polished surface.]

And all stories originate from the same source. They sprung from human imagination, to address timeless questions of courage, strength, and wisdom. So too from that there was a beginning.

[To Hermione, he holds out his hand with the coin. Little by little, bit by bit on his skin, his attire transforms into something better befitting his claim.]

I am that beginning, as King of Heroes, Gilgamesh.

In my world, those stories are given power that's very real. It's why I'm still alive, you see.

[But enough of that. Gilgamesh nods to the coin, in acknowledgement of wit that could hold the great King's ego at bay. She earned her gold this time, and he won't run circles around her any longer, not even to argue the point.

After all, he has schedules to keep, too. A busy girl, this one, and someone worth keeping an eye on. She'd learn of his true legend soon enough.]

It's yours. It was a worthy exchange. [Tilting his head:] When might I expect this done, then?

I couldn't agree more.

[But this conversation has reached its end. Gilgamesh has no desire to push his luck too far; this is a useful connection to maintain, a useful girl to tap into later on for a variety of reasons. The more time he spends in this world, the more he realizes a delicate approach can be quite effective.

He nods to her answer, amenable, and then moves to address one last matter.]

I have a special request. Of this object's make, I mean.

I should say, it's more of an inscription than anything. Here, as follows...

[Apparently Gilgamesh has little use for traditional pen and paper. He simply takes her by the free hand, unfurls it gently finger by finger and starts to trace a series of symbols upon her palm. They are simple shapes, short in number, and yet more intricate than they would first seem; it is his name, written in cuneiform. GILGAMESH.

Over and over he traces with the tip of his finger. She may write it down if she so wishes, but this must be memorized into her very skin, which he seeks to do.]

Those. Etched on the very bottom. I leave the shape up to you, but they are the sacred letters of my tongue. I must have them.

[In a fluid gesture, he bends to bring that same hand to his lips, brushing his mouth across the back of it. For all his lack of manners, there are some hints of chivalry in the bow that follows, in that softer smile and in softer words.

Or perhaps, more simply, this shining knight is simply a very good liar, and a very charismatic fellow all around when he's not busy shoving his ego everywhere.]

Then I will eagerly await the fruits of your labor. Have it sent to my study within the Citadel.

[And thankfully, blessedly, he lets go, and passes her by.]

Look after yourself in the meantime... Hermione.
