[ It would be a lie to say that she wasn't nervous; the idea of coming into political power wasn't something that Hermione had been at all prepared for, despite knowing, absently, that she would be called upon to help June at some point - the idea of actually leading people, soldiers, men, all kinds that would turn to her for orders and regulation... It was vastly different from being Head Girl at Hogwarts.
She doesn't think she can dock house points for unruliness here.
As soon as she hears from Lancelot that Anne is going to be her second she makes contact with her, inviting her for tea and talk in her rooms. The rooms themselves seem far too grand for Hermione, who sits at a small table shifting uncomfortably until one of the guards at the door announces that Anne has arrived - and then she darts up, rushing over to greet her at the door. ]
[The grand surroundings of the Citadel are impressive even for Anne who had spent her life in various palaces. She is at ease however, giving Hermione a warm smile as the doors open. She instructed her ladies to wait for her outside before making her way into the room, she wished that this first meeting to be just between them.]
Marquise Hermione. It is a pleasure to meet you face to face at last.
[Anne greeted her with a respectful bow of her head. She hoped that she would be able to be of help to Hermione- all too often she had sat by the side of a king who all too often refused to heed her advice. This would be a very welcome change.]
Marquise Hermione - it still sounds a little bit strange. If you'd like to just call me Hermione that would be fine.
[ She wants them to be friends, not just people who work together and help one another when it comes to politics. She's already so in over her head that the idea of just having someone at her side for this, for the Citadel, seems a little ridiculous. Surely friendship would be a thousand times better?
Stepping back into the main area of the room once the doors are closed, Hermione pulls out a seat and offers a smile before she sits down herself and starts to pour the tea. ]
[Anne's had so few friends at court in France, the change here is refreshing and this is one of those times when she's reminded that there is not the same danger in it coming back to be used against her.
She gratefully takes a seat, glad to be off her feet for a moment.]
A little honey would be perfect, thank you, Hermione. I hope we can get to know each other better, I have heard of a little of your world and it seems most fascinating.
[ Hermione offers her the best smile she can, going ahead to pour them some tea and make herself comfortable. All of this is still so much, a little much for her, and she breathes out as she passes a cup over to Anne, freshly brewed with a spoonful of honey to make it a little sweeter. ]
I'll admit that I haven't heard a lot about yours, but I've been completely rushed off my feet. I had no idea I was going to be promoted and, honestly? I have no idea what I should be doing right now.
It's understandable. It is a great burden to bear, especially in a world that must be quite different than your own.
[Anne took the tea with a grateful smile, letting it cool a moment before taking a sip.]
I was perhaps a little younger than you when I became Queen, I remember feeling the same as you do now. Over time you learn and though such power is never an easy burden to bear, I am sure you will learn to use it well.
Your eagerness to learn will solve you well. There are many aspects to keep in mind when handling political matters but with practice, they will soon become second nature for you.
[Anne assured her warmly.]
Are you a student where you are from? That is incredible to have that opportunity.
I hope so. If I'm going to stay Marquis then I'm going to have to be a bit more political than I've been so far. I'm determined to be the best I can be.
[ And it seems like she has a good teacher, which is more than she had thought she would have. ]
I was! I went to a school called Hogwarts. It's where I learned my magic.
It was called SPEW - The Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare. There were creatures in my world called House Elves that were being taken advantage of and abused by wizards and witches a like so I created SPEW to try and help them, to give them the rights they deserved.
[ And it doesn't matter that it didn't go well, right. ]

Sugar? Milk or honey, maybe?

I've always been particularly good at learning, so hopefully I'll keep that up here. I think that, together, we can do something really great here.
