[ The month opens with Hermione moving some things from her townhouse to the White Citedel; it takes a few trips, even with her beaded back, with rugs and blankets she wants to use to make her rooms her own being carried with levitation magic. She is always accompanied by Padfoot (the Second) and on her final trip she brings a cat with her, who stalks around the halls before he crawls into her room.
As the month goes on, however, Hermione can be found rushing around the Citadel, popping in and out with information for anyone that might want help dealing with the frost that's overtaken the Drabworld. She can't offer much, but anyone that ask can benefit from an everlasting flame that can be used to defrost people, as well as a hand to teleport over to where the worst damage is, if asked.
Any other times, Hermione can be found in the library, in the outskirts of the Citadel or wandering around Nimh Gleanne! ]
[In all the rush after the attack, Pod had gotten distracted, but the cold and frost rekindles her worries and reminds her that she has so much to tell Hermione, and should also make sure she's okay and doesn't need anything. Her breath fogs up the air around her and the locket itself, but at least she can still use it.]
Hermione! Hello. There's so much that's happened; are you well? Especially with this accursed cold.
[She doesn't want to linger if Hermione might need her help in some way, so she ends it there for now. If Hermione is well, she can describe what she's found.]
[ Hermione, who has been running around herself, a little lost in all the insanity of everything happening, brightens when she hears from Pod, taking a moment to herself so they can talk. ]
I'm fine, thank you - are you? I'm trying to fix the cold as much as I can but there's only so much a fire spell can do... We don't want to burn them, that would be ridiculous.
If they might get scorched a little, better alive than frozen solid. If it’s a beast, I can Heal burns, but the magic doesn’t work on the ice. Would that I could learn a fire spell! I lose so much time gathering wood and starting fires for warming that could otherwise be spent gathering animals for thawing.
[She smiles a little wistful.]
Oh, I need a great many things, and I doubt most of them can be gotten, but it lightens my worries to know you are well and fighting this unnatural cold. I’m sure you can thaw a great many with your spells!
I could try and teach you a basic fire spell, if you like. I haven't really learned how best to transfer what I know magically to other people, but it might be worth giving it a good go, don't you think?
[ Her own smile is a little brighter. ]
I'd like to think so! If there's anything I can help you with, anyone that needs a little extra help, you'll have to tell me. Okay?
I would be overjoyed if I can learn even a simple spell like that. And what's the harm, even if I can't? We'll never know if I don't try.
[Pod smiles]
I will be sure to tell you. If you've got any ideas how to better thaw the poor souls and creatures frozen by this, I'm keen on listening. Also, I know you deal with herbs a lot, and I've some herbs from home that are not used by Beast Healers. I know they're rare and valuable, and perhaps you might find a use for them?
We'll do what we can. Everyone here has magic thanks to their shard, so we might as well try and see if it'll work.
[ She nods her head. ]
Warm cloaks, fire, that sort of thing, none of it can hurt. [ But, oh! Her eyes widen and she beams. ] That sounds wonderful! I'd love to take a look at them, Pod. I've been working on my own herb garden and June Ma left me a few, too. It'll be nice to let it grow and see what we can do with the results.
I did not know the shard gives us access to more magic. Perhaps that was how I was able to learn the spell for searching out hurts. And yes, I would like to try to learn! If I can expand what aid I can give, I'll be forever grateful.
[Pod nods along.]
The first is White Mandrake and I know it has many uses. The other is very, very rare, and called King's Blood. It can cure the winter lung sickness, among others, and even a wasting disease of the lungs impossible to cure otherwise, if enough of it is used. I'm sure it will be very useful if we can but get more of it to grow. Even the twenty-some plants I have... they wouldn't last long.
It does! I've been learning how to use my shard to boost myself a little, thanks to Lancelot, and it makes learning magic a little easier. I'll see what I can do about learning magic and how to pass it over to other people here.
[ She looks a bit brighter now. ]
Oh, they sound... Well, Pod, you and I are going to have to have a talk about this. I have a garden at the Citadel that might work if we can figure it out together. We can try and encourage them to grow with a little magic, too - have you tried talking to Flora?
Do you know where I might learn to do the same? It sounds most useful, and the more I can learn and improve myself, the better!
[Pod brightens in turn.]
I take it that will be a good talk. I'm glad I could find someone who knows how to put them to use. And I've spoken with her once, I think, but she was very busy at the time so we didn't speak long.
He did offer to teach people, so you could ask him yourself! I would help if I was a little more sure of the process, but... Well, it did happen in a dream.
[ Which sounds ridiculous when she says it, but that's how the Drabworld works. ]
Definitely try sending her a letter, or giving one to me and I can pass it to her. She's very good with flowers and all kinds of plants. Otherwise, we can work together to see what we can do in the gardens.
I cannot say I know him well, but yes, he seemed so. But he also seemed very busy, and I wouldn’t want to be a bother.
[Pod disappears for a moment and paper can be heard rustling.]
I shall write her a letter immediately to give to you. I don’t suppose it would take long to get it or the plants to you, with the rings. Isn’t there one near the Citadel?
Yes, there is! A Seelie ring for us to use. You can leave it with me or send it by bird - they know where the Citadel is and one of the servants always brings me my messages even when I tell him I can do it myself.
MARCH ( all of month ).

I think I may write her a letter. I take it you know her well? Perhaps I will send it through you.
[After all, a letter passed through a friend is more welcome than a letter from someone all but a stranger.]

[ And he's always so very kind about it. ]
I know her well enough, I think, and we're both part of the Citadel now. It couldn't hurt.

[Though right now, Pod doesn't expect to have time anytime soon. There are so many animals that need her help.]
